+Mobile and flexible
+liable to standardization
-less control
-labor intensive
Modeling
+simulation of more samples
+test ideas for real experiment
+desktop work so cheap
+useful to test hypothesis
+test a range of variation in extremities
±need to be simplified relative to real experiments
-depends on assumptions
-need real data to create a model
-needs computer skill, programing and bioinformatics
Positive feedback
Informative and productive talks and lectures
First hand information from the experts
Time to discuss individually
Hands on practical
Covered big range of topics
State of the art facilities
We had opportunity to learn each others work
Critics
Analysis software were not given due emphasis during the training
Hydroponics was not addressed well
Pouch system: was not addressed
Image analysis was not given to much time as it demands
X-ray tomography was not included
Thank you

Three things to enjoy in Finland during the fall

September 27, 2015

In fall, the inhabitants of Finland open their appetite for 3 things, collection of wild mushrooms, warming in a smoking sauna, and fishing. On Friday 25 September 2015, a friend of mine at UN-Wider University invited me to join his fellow colleagues in the excursion to the suburb of Helsinki, destined for mushroom collection, fishing and Sauna. As an equivocal fan of mushrooms, I accepted the invitation without hesitation.

The rocks we have been standing on were created before 2 billion yea...
